Is Kamala playing the safe game with Connecticut bid ?

Connecticut: In addition to a statewide ballot item to increase voting choices, voters in Connecticut will choose candidates for president, Congress, and the state legislature in the general election scheduled for November 5.

In the contest to succeed outgoing Democratic President Joe Biden, Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, Republican former President Donald Trump, and three independent candidates will vie for the state’s seven electoral votes.

In a repeat of their 2018 election, Republican Matthew Corey will battle two-term Democratic US Senator Christopher Murphy.

There are two additional contenders in the contest. Five incumbent Democratic members of the US House are running for reelection. The most hotly fought election is in western Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District, where incumbent Rep. Jahana Hayes is running against Republican George Logan again after Logan lost to Hayes by a slim margin in 2022.

In order to give Democratic Governor Ned Lamont more clout, Democrats are also attempting to win supermajorities in the state House and Senate.

Connecticut is seen as a safe pick for Harris this year since it has supported the Democratic nominee in the last eight presidential elections.

Biden won the state by 20 points over Trump in 2020

A proposed “no excuse” absentee voting amendment, which would give the state legislature the authority to let any voter obtain a mail-in ballot, would also be up for vote. Voters must have a valid reason to obtain an absentee ballot under current law.

Here are some predictions for the Connecticut election of 2024:

The poll will close at 8 p.m. ET.
